Scrappy Do!

I always have an emotional dilemma when it comes to parting with anything left over from a project. Sure I save the scraps that are even remotely close to being "usable" for another project but the tiny pieces of fabric, batting and snips of thread - well, by the time my project is done, I am emotionally attached to the "ingredients" so it's hard to part with anything. I literally stop as my hand hovers over a garbage basket and my hand freezes shut, refusing to open and drop the itty bitty pieces. I believe this is the first stage of my separation anxiety. Send it to a landfill? NO WAY! So, I have a bottomless pit of "unusable" cotton ingredients for a recipe that I haven't come up with.
The other day I was lucky enough to meet Deb and Cheryl - two really nice (and so fun!) ladies from Columbia River Piecemakers Quilt Guild and they have solved my emotional dilemma! They stuff pillow cases with all their scraps, sew them closed and donate them to animal shelters to use for beds! Brilliant! I can now part with my leftovers, keep them out of the landfill and ease my separation anxiety with the feeling that maybe I made a puppy dog's day a little bit warmer and more comfortable!
I probably won't be able to part with actual pillow cases but I do have fabrics that I can use to sew up some quick alternatives. Daughter Maddy is pretty excited about this idea because she wants to have a doggy rescue facility when she grows up. This will be a great ongoing project that we can do together! Thank you so much Deb and Cheryl!

And this artist (MG Gallery) is amazing. Her colors make me very happy! How beautiful is this? Fabric, thread, imagination, and talent!

How cool is this?

While getting my daily dose of etsy ~ which is an important part of any balanced breakfast ~ I came across this tote bag. Made of selvages - woo hoo!!!

Selvages are just amazing to me to begin with - why? Who knows. Could be the designer/textile company names, the color dots and/or the fact that I'm beginning to think that selvages are indestructable! I have a small quilted wallhanging made from selvages cut from fabrics in my store.

As a fabric hoarder, recycler/upcycler and huge fan of anything unique and handmade, I had to contact the artist that made it and see if I could share it here! Thank you Sheri of Bungalow Quilts! Upon looking further into her shop, I found a bunny made of selvages, quilts, table runners, fabric paper dolls and more! Please visit her shop on etsy if you get a moment:

More new fabric on the way!

It's like a national holiday for me whenever I get the shipping notifications! Wooty woot woot woot! I track the shipping 6 or 8 times a day until the morning of scheduled delivery - then I wait by the door, looking through the windows until my BFF of the day - Sam, the UPS driver - whom I refer to as "SAMta Claus" - shows up! Poor fella' probably dreads it. But he always has a smile on his face and is ever so helpful and kind. I'm pretty sure he thinks I am crazy. I'm not sure which fabrics are being shipped - sometimes they are out and sometimes they are on back order. Let's hope they are all in this shipment! I had to reorder a couple of these because they sold out! These are all from Michael Miller Fabrics and will be available in my etsy and ebay stores as soon as I can get them inventoried and listed! I just had to share my happiness!

I need Pattern Testers! Crochet and Sewing.......

Anyone interested?
I am looking for people to test easy to intermediate crochet and sewing patterns and/or tutorials. If you are interested in being on the tester team, please leave a comment below OR contact me at FabricAndSuch@gmail.com and we can see if it works for you! It's not full time or anything fabulous, I just need some really cool people who LOVE to crochet or sew (or both!) that have the time and experience to test! Tester team members will have the right to sell finished projects under the terms of my copyright with NO cottage license required! As well, tester team members that have selling venues on etsy (and possibly other online sites) will be given credit for any photos along with their store info if so desired! I've been scanning and scanning and listing fabric on ebay! Man, I have some really cute fabric. It's really hard to part with fabric. Even when you had a quilt shop full of it! And scrapbooking supplies & yarn...............not even going there. I'm a hoarder. I miss my store and especially my customers so much! But on the other hand, it's nice to be able to design and create for awhile!

I cannot wait for sweet summertime!!

So, I had a GREAT Mother's Day weekend! All of my kids were here! They brought flowers, Starbucks, chocolate, and more! Did I raise them right or what? ;)

AND the sun was actually shining here in my little piece of the Pacific Northwest!
The down side: I looked over to see that the briars are thriving on rain/sun combo and will soon be taking over my property if I don't "manage" them - LOL managing briars/blackberry bushes........right.
The up side: Those same obnoxious briars are home to so many cute little baby bunnies in the spring AND provide TONS of huge, sweet blackberries in the summer! Even our puppy dogs will stop to eat blackberries on our walks!

So this is my fruit listing for the day on etsy and ebay - this fabric! You see, now it's raining but I am hanging on to the sunshine in my mind! You can see it here:
AND check my Etsy Finds Page - I am finding a bunch of berries & fruit related stuff so I can make a big Etsy Fruit Salad for you to look at! Don't forget to go to my sidebar and click on the Friday Fabric Freebie Page - leave a comment on there to win. That's it! EVERY friday as long as there is interest.

Organic Baby Coolness!

So my super cool niece is having her first baby. It's a boy! As the most fabulous auntie in the world, it's my duty to spoil them both! I went to Jaminga.com and bought several soybean baby things. They were here almost immediately! I was amazed! Anyway, this is one of the things I got along with a cute matching hat, little sockies, a bib, and another coordinating one piece. This is a fab ensemble! And eco-friendly too! I love the feel of the soy fabric, it's so "silky." And the chocolate color is really nice because we all know that babies stain everything! I hope she loves it! Had to share that!
